understand this first

The blood group of every person is decided on the basis of his antigens and antibodies. According to the American Red Cross, people with A+ blood have A antigens and anti-B antibodies in their blood. Similarly, on the contrary, B antigen and anti-A antibodies are found in B+ blood. Now let us come to what happens if another blood group enters someone else’s body. According to the National Institutes of Health, if an A+ person is accidentally transfused with B+ blood, the anti-B antibodies present in his blood attack the B antigens of the transfused B blood. Due to this the red blood cells start bursting. This entire process is called Acute Hemolytic Transfusion Reaction (AHTR) in medical language.

What could be the problem?

Experts and various medical institutions say that due to this you have to face many problems. As this situation can become serious within a few minutes. The patient starts showing symptoms like high fever, chills, dark color of urine, back pain, falling blood pressure and difficulty in breathing. Although in many cases doctors control the situation by giving medicines, still sometimes there is a danger of the situation becoming difficult. Before blood transfusion, cross-matching is done in every hospital, in which the compatibility of the blood of the patient and the donor is checked. If any problem is found at any stage in this process, the transfusion is stopped. In simple words, to avoid any kind of wrong blood typing, the sample is cleared only after double testing from donor to patient.
