South Africa won the second ODI match against Pakistan at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Thursday by 8 wickets in 59 balls on the basis of Quinton de Kock’s century. With the win, the three-match series is leveled at 1-1. The third ODI will be played on Saturday.
Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi won the toss and decided to bat first. Pakistan could score 269 runs at the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs. Salman Ali Aga was the top scorer by scoring 69 runs on 106 balls. Saim Ayub played an inning of 53 runs and Mohammad Nawaz played an inning of 59 runs. Babar Azam was out after scoring 11 runs and Rizwan after scoring 4 runs.
Left arm fast bowler Nandre Berger bowled brilliantly for South Africa. Burger took 4 wickets for 46 runs in 10 overs. Apart from this, Nqaba Peter took 3 wickets for 55 runs in 8 overs and Corbin Bosh took 2 wickets for 58 runs in 10 overs.
Opener Quinton de Kock played an excellent century for South Africa while chasing the target of 270 runs. De Kock, who has been struggling with poor form for some time, played an unbeaten inning of 123 runs off 119 balls, hitting 7 sixes and 8 fours. De Kock made a partnership of 81 runs with Pretorius 46 for the first wicket and 153 runs with Tony DeGeorge 76 for the second wicket. Captain Matthew Britzke remained unbeaten after scoring 17 runs. South Africa scored 270 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in 40.1 overs and won the match by 8 wickets.
Pakistan captain Shaheen used 8 bowlers but Mohammad Wasim Junior and Faheem Ashraf got 1-1 success. Quinton de Kock was the player of the match.
