According to the data released by the Ministry of Tourism, the share of Indian tourists aged 15 to 24 years going abroad is about 10.85 percent, while the share of travelers aged 25 to 34 years is 27.46 percent. Whereas the percentage of people between 35 to 44 years has been recorded at 24.57 percent. In comparison, the number of Indian passengers above 55 years of age is very less, i.e. only 8.94 percent. That is, it is clear that Indian youth have now started considering traveling not just as a holiday or a hobby, but as a lifestyle. Many youth plan travel between work or during study breaks. Seeing new countries in a short time and understanding their culture has now become a priority for the youth.

That is, while in India the youth go out to see the world at an early age, whereas in other countries people enjoy traveling after retirement. Tourism experts say that for Indians, travel has now become more of an experience than a status symbol. They plan foreign trips even with less money and limited time. At the same time, foreign tourists make long preparations before traveling and often visit many countries in a single trip.
The ministry’s report also shows that the number of outbound tourists from India has increased by 11 percent in 2024. While 99 lakh 51 thousand foreigners had come to India in the year 2024, the number of people going abroad from India was around 3 crore 8 thousand. Along with this, an increase of 4.52 percent has also been recorded in the number of foreign tourists coming to the country.
