It still remains a big question as to which team Sanju Samson will play for in IPL 2026. According to media reports, the deal regarding Samson’s trade was almost finalized between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Speculations about Ravindra Jadeja being traded to Rajasthan Royals in place of Samson had gained momentum recently. Now the news is that RR management is not happy with trading just one player in place of Samson.
According to a report published in Cricbuzz, Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja were retained by Rajasthan and Chennai respectively last season in the Rs 18 crore slot. The deal should have been finalized by now, but Rajasthan Royals management is not ready to swap players directly. Rajasthan team wants CSK to hand over one more player along with Ravindra Jadeja in exchange of Samson.
Rajasthan management wants to get Ravindra Jadeja and Dewald Brevis in exchange of Sanju Samson. South Africa’s dreaded batsman Brevis had joined Chennai Super Kings only last year. On the other hand, CSK officials only want to trade Jadeja, and as far as trading another player along with Jadeja is concerned, CSK especially does not want to trade Brevis at all.
According to the report, RR franchise officials have also contacted some other teams. These teams are Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants.
Chennai Super Kings is ready to release Ravindra Jadeja, which in itself would be a huge swap. Jadeja is one of the most successful and legendary all-rounders in IPL history. Apart from scoring 3,260 runs in his IPL career, Jadeja has also taken 170 wickets.
On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad has not shown much interest in Sanju Samson, because SRH already has 3 good opening batting options.
