Anaya Bangar Gender Transition: A very emotional moment was seen in the reality show Rise and Fall, when contestant Anaya Bangar revealed a deep and bold truth related to her life. During the conversation, Anaya told that she had frozen her sperm before her gender transition surgery, so that in future she too could fulfill her dream of becoming a mother, even if through surrogacy. Anaya said, I had two options, either I would choose adoption, or I would freeze the sperm before hormonal treatment. I chose the second path because I wanted to be able to become a mother if I wanted to in the future. I cannot give birth to a child myself, but I can definitely have my child through surrogacy. Let us tell you whether this is possible.
Is this possible?
Anaya Bangar’s decision is completely scientifically correct and possible. When a man wants to preserve his fertility before transition, he can opt for sperm freezing or egg freezing. This process opens the way for having a biological child in future through IVF or surrogacy. That means Anaya cannot conceive herself, but with the help of a donor egg and a surrogate mother, her child can be born from her frozen sperm.
At present, pregnancy is not possible for a transgender woman. The male body does not have a uterus, fallopian tube and the hormonal system necessary for conception. Scientists in some countries are experimenting with uterus transplant, but till now no case of successful pregnancy has been reported in any transgender woman. This means that surrogacy is a safe option at present.
Transgenders are taking this step
In Anaya’s case, he took the wise step of freezing his sperm before undergoing transition surgery. This gives them the possibility of having their own biological children through surrogacy in the future. In today’s era, many transgender people, whether men or women, are choosing this path of fertility preservation before hormonal treatment. According to a 2021 report by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), sperm or egg freezing before gender transition is considered to be the most effective way for transgender individuals to fulfill their dream of parenthood in the future. At the same time, it has also been made clear in WHO’s 2023 technical brief that fertility preservation is an important part of the reproductive rights of transgender persons.
