‘There is no uncle-uncle relationship’, Manvinder Bisla’s anger over the questions raised on Gautam Gambhir and Harshit Rana

Indian cricket team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and young fast bowler Harshit Rana are in discussion on social media these days. Some fans and experts have accused Gambhir of favouritism. He says that since both have been associated with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Gambhir is giving more opportunities to Harshit in Team India. Now on this entire controversy, former KKR wicketkeeper batsman Manvinder Bisla has given a befitting reply to the critics.

“There is no uncle-uncle relationship” – Bisla

Manvinder Bisla said that the talks being made about Harshit Rana are completely baseless. He said, “Those who are opposing the selection of Harshit Rana are probably not KKR fans. People think that Gautam has a KKR background, hence they are supporting Harshit, but brother, there is no uncle-uncle relationship. People have just created a narrative on social media.”

Bisla gave this statement on ‘Indian Cricket Canteen’ YouTube channel and clearly said that these things going on against Gambhir are “just rumours”.

Harshit Rana’s brilliant performance

Amidst the controversy, it is also true that Harshit Rana’s performance recently has been excellent. He has taken the most wickets in the ODI series against Australia. He also contributed with the bat in the second match of the T20 series. Harshit took the team out of a difficult situation by scoring 35 runs in 33 balls. In the third ODI, he played an important role in India’s victory by taking 4 wickets. Although Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli dominated the headlines after the match, Bisla believes that the foundation of the victory was laid by Harshit.

“Rohit-Virat shined, but Harshit set the match”

Bisla further said, “India defeated Australia in Sydney. Everywhere on social media, only Rohit-Virat were talked about, but did anyone talk about Harshit? If he had not taken wickets in the beginning, would the result have been the same?”

He said that young players like Harshit need both opportunity and appreciation. It is absolutely wrong to link his performance with the KKR angle.

Manvinder Bisla clearly said that Gautam Gambhir chose Harshit Rana not because of any favoritism but on the basis of ability. He has appealed to the critics not to view the player’s hard work and performance through the lens of “favouritism”.
