Bihar Assembly election results have changed many equations. This is the first time in history that BJP has emerged as the largest party. This is happening for the second time when BJP is seen winning 91 seats. Nitish Kumar’s party JDU is in second place and is ahead on 82 seats.
In such a situation, questions are being raised that who will be the Chief Minister now? At the time of elections, NDA definitely said on many occasions that NDA is contesting the elections on the face of Nitish Kumar and PM Modi, but did not officially declare Nitish Kumar as the CM.
Now that BJP has emerged as the largest party, the question is whether BJP will put forward its chief ministerial face. If we look at the equation of seats, BJP can form the government even without JDU.
If Chirag Paswan’s LJP 21 seats, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM’s 5 seats and Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM’s 4 seats included in NDA are added, then this figure becomes 121. This means that the political bargaining power of Nitish Kumar has reduced. However, it is important to keep in mind here that the Modi government at the Center has the support of Nitish Kumar.
To form government in Bihar, 122 seats are required. One seat seems to be going to BSP’s account. These figures are according to the trends till 2 o’clock. Interestingly, Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha also have old enmity with Nitish Kumar.
BJP last won 91 seats in the 2010 assembly elections. Then JDU had won 115 seats and Nitish Kumar became the Chief Minister. After this, BJP won 53 seats in 2015 and 74 seats in 2020. In the 2020 elections, RJD became the largest party by winning 75 seats. BJP was at second place and JDU was at third place.
