Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday (November 16) announced the change of names of 3 metro stations in Pitampura area. He says that this step is being taken to increase the convenience of the passengers and to give respect to the local identity. CM Gupta made this announcement during the ‘Shreshtha Bharat Sampark Yatra’ program organized in Haiderpur village.

This yatra was organized in memory of the soldiers martyred in the Rezang La war of 1962. In that war, 114 soldiers of 13 Kumaon Regiment sacrificed their lives. After paying tribute to the martyrs in the program, CM Gupta said that Haiderpur village is today becoming the identity of developing Delhi, where a balance of both tradition and modernity can be seen.

These stations will have new names

The Chief Minister also shared the proposed new names of 3 metro stations in his ‘X’ post.

  • The new name of the proposed North Pitampura station in QU block will be North Pitampura-Prashant Vihar Metro Station.
  • The new name of the proposed Pitampura North Metro Station will be Haiderpur Gaon Metro Station.
  • The existing Pitampura metro station will be renamed as Madhuban Chowk metro station.

The Chief Minister says that with these changes the local residents will feel more connected to the identity and history of the place.

Rapid development work going on in the area

CM Gupta also said that the work of widening Max Hospital Road is going on at a fast pace. Along with this, an underpass is also being constructed, so that people can get rid of jams and troubles. He said that the aim of Delhi government is to provide better, convenient and safe transport facilities in every part of the city.

Changing the names of metro stations and improving road infrastructure is expected to provide great relief to the people living in Pitampura and surrounding areas. Local people say that changing the name will make the location easier to identify and travel will also become more convenient.
