On Monday, 42 Indian Umrah pilgrims died tragically when a bus going from Mecca to Medina collided with a diesel tanker near Medina in Saudi Arabia, while the life of only one person was saved. About 43 people were traveling in the bus at the time of the accident. The survivor has been identified as Mohammed Abdul Shoaib, 24, a resident of Hyderabad, who was sitting near the driver.
Mohammad Abdul Shoaib was admitted to the hospital, but his health condition is not clear at the moment. The Indian Embassy has set up a 24×7 control room to help the victims and their families as soon as information about the accident was received. At the same time, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar expressed deep grief over the accident and said that the Embassy in Riyadh and Jeddah Consulate are providing all possible help to the affected people.
