Impact of death sentence on Sheikh Hasina? BCCI took a big decision on India-Bangladesh series

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed the India vs Bangladesh series to be held next month. According to news agency PTI, the Indian Board is trying to make a new schedule of the series during that time. The postponement of the series is being linked to the deteriorated political relations between India and Bangladesh. Last Monday, the tribunal court sentenced former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death for crimes against humanity. It is being told that the decision of this punishment may also have an impact on the India-Bangladesh series.

Under ICC’s Futures Tour Programme, a series of 3 ODI and 3 T20 matches was to be held between India and Bangladesh women’s cricket teams. Its matches were expected to be played in Kolkata and Cuttack.

A BCCI source was quoted by news agency PTI as saying, “We will try to organize an alternative series in December. As far as the series against Bangladesh is concerned, we have not got the green signal for it.” Let us tell you that the series against Bangladesh was going to be the first series of the Indian team after winning the Women’s World Cup 2025.

It is possible that the decision to postpone the series has been taken due to the deteriorating political relations between India and Bangladesh. However, no such confirmation has been received. Let us tell you that after the overthrow of the government in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh and came to India.

On the other hand, according to PTI, an official of Bangladesh Cricket Board said, “We received a letter from BCCI, in which it has been written that the series has been cancelled. Currently, we are waiting for the new date and information about the series.”

Let us remind you that this year BCCI had postponed the men’s team’s series with Bangladesh till September 2026.
