A fire broke out in the cemetery of Reza Mosque in Mashhad city where Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was buried. It is being told that there is a fire in the workshop there. According to Iranian state media, the fire broke out at a construction site in the religious site complex, where workers were processing bitumen. At present the emergency teams have brought the fire under control.
There was no damage to the cemetery.
Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to the central cemetery of the shrine and the adjacent Goharshad Mosque. Officials said there were no reports of injuries and there was no damage to the cemetery. The cause of the fire is being investigated. Earlier in the year 2022, there was a fire here due to short circuit. Then it was handled without any major damage.
