MP Electricity Theft Complaint App: Problems of electricity theft are still seen in many states of the country. The electricity department tries different methods to stop electricity theft, but despite this, people do not desist from their actions, that is why the electricity companies of Madhya Pradesh have come up with a very different method. So that electricity theft can be prevented.
An app has been made for this whose name is V-Mitra. Its specialty is that the complainant can remain completely anonymous. Reward is given on correct complaint and the entire process is completed on mobile only. Because of this app, thousands of complaints were registered in a short time and huge amount was also recovered.
How does it work? V-Mitra ,
The V-Mitra app created by the electricity companies of Madhya Pradesh is not just for filing complaints. Rather, it is a social monitoring tool of the electricity department. Any consumer can report technical glitches like power theft, wrong geo-tagging, line load mismatch, transformer linkage etc.

The process of sending a complaint is easy and you can also add a photo or location as proof. The company investigates the complaint and if the information is found correct. So the complainant is rewarded. The biggest strength of the app is that the public directly gives feedback to the system.
How to get reward?
The company has set a clear rule to decide the reward. The connection or line about which information is given. It is examined. If the case of wrong tagging, overloading or theft is found true. So the reward amount ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 25 per kilowatt is given. In big cases this amount can reach up to Rs 50 thousand. The identity of the complainant remains protected in this entire process. With this, people are able to help without fear.

This much recovery has been done so far
The results of the app are shocking. Within 100 days of launch, about 30 thousand complaints were registered and more than Rs 25 lakh was recovered. In many cases people also got rewards. A citizen was given a reward of up to Rs 50 thousand. The department says this partnership has made a direct impact on theft and grassroots irregularities are being detected faster than ever before. The way the public itself is participating in it.
