Recently, during the promotion of his film ‘120 Bahadur’, Farhan Akhtar said in an interview to Samdish, “My film Toofan was released in the year 2021, and right after that, I was going to direct a film called ‘Jee Le Zara’. It just kept getting delayed, and in those two years, I kept refusing all the opportunities that came my way. I did this because when you have to direct, you can only focus on that. Can focus. If someone came to act, I would tell him, no, I am going to direct soon.”
He further explained, “The shooting dates of the film kept getting pushed back again and again. It was a very stressful period because I felt like I was wasting time, and I didn’t even realize that two and a half years had passed.”

Talking about how these constant delays made him feel insecure, Farhan said, “There are some personal insecurities as well. I started feeling that maybe people would think I wouldn’t be able to direct. It had been 12 years since I had directed a film, and maybe people were doubting my ability so I didn’t want to say, ‘Let me move ahead with this film.’

‘Jee Le Zara’ is being said to be a road-trip film like Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol starrer hit film ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’. Earlier there were rumors that Katrina and Priyanka are no longer a part of this film. However, in an interview with Variety in 2023, Farhan Akhtar claimed that the issue of dates was the reason behind the delay, stating, “We just have an issue with the dates, and the actress strike has created a huge confusion about Priyanka’s dates about what can happen and what can’t happen, so I’m really starting to believe that the film has its destiny now. When it has to happen, it will happen, let’s see.”
