During an event organized in Delhi, All India Imam Organization chief Maulana Omar Ahmed Ilyasi directly targeted Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani. Along with this, he has also sent a message to the Imam of Pakistan. Ilyasi said that he has sent a clear fatwa to the Chief Imam of Pakistan. It says that no terrorist organization should be allowed to use the name of Prophet Mohammed.
Responding to Madani’s statement, Ilyasi said that Madani’s recent statement can create fear and misunderstanding in the country, hence its strong condemnation is necessary. According to him, such a statement can have a negative impact on the communal harmony of the nation. Ilyasi made it clear that it is neither right nor necessary to compare the situation of India’s Muslims with that of any Western country. He said that India has always given respect to Muslims. The country has also elevated them to the highest constitutional positions, hence the identity and respect of the Muslims of India does not need to be compared with any other country.
Opportunities for Muslims have increased in Modi government
Taking his point further, Ilyasi said that Muslim youth have got new possibilities during the tenure of the present central government. He mentioned that in recent years, the selection of Muslim candidates in civil services has been more than before, which shows that opportunities are equally available in the country and no discrimination is being done.
Madani should clarify immediately, otherwise the wrong message will be sent.
Ilyasi demanded that Maulana Arshad Madani reconsider his statement and publicly clarify what his motive was. He says that if the statement is not withdrawn, it will create unnecessary tension within the country and can create an atmosphere of distrust among the common people.
What is the reason for the dispute?
Recently, Maulana Arshad Madani had given a statement, in which he compared the condition of Muslims in India with that of Muslims in countries like America and England. This comment gave rise to controversy and now many organizations and prominent Muslim leaders of the country have called this comparison inappropriate.
