India’s defense technology and strategic diplomacy have once again established their strong presence on the international stage. The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile deal worth about $450 million has now almost reached its final stages. Developed with the joint technology of India and Russia, this missile is today included among the fastest and most reliable strategic systems in the world. For a long time many countries were showing interest in purchasing it and now this deal can prove to give new dimensions to India’s defense industry.

According to the ANI report, sources in the defense establishment say that potential buyer countries closely observed the results achieved by BrahMos in recent military operations. Very impressed with its accuracy. This influence has taken this deal to the final stage and it is expected that the official signing will also take place in the coming months. The reliability of BrahMos is not limited to this alone. The ability to launch through all three mediums, land, sea and air, makes it even more strategically effective. This is the reason why India is no longer just an importer of arms, but is itself emerging as a powerful exporter, which has the ability to sell state-of-the-art weapons.

Demand for BrahMos increased after Operation Sindoor
Operation Sindoor in May 2025 took the prestige of BrahMos missile to a new height. In this operation started after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, BrahMos was deployed in the war zone for the first time. When Indian military forces launched fast, accurate and highly effective attacks using BrahMos, political experts around the world started paying serious attention to its technical capabilities. Many Pakistani bases could not function for days after the attacks. This proved that BrahMos is not only fast but is also no less than anyone in giving political results. The exhibition of BrahMos at the Dubai Air Show also attracted many defense representatives from the world. The countries which were earlier just gathering information have now entered the process of actual procurement. Operation Sindoor was not only a combat success for India, but it also emerged as a proof of technological self-reliance.

Increasing power of BrahMos in Navy and Air Force
India is also equipping its army with new capabilities. Soon after the tension on the border increased, the Central Government approved the new batch of BrahMos for the Navy and Air Force. The Indian Navy is expanding the deployment of BrahMos on its Veer-class warships, which will make surveillance of maritime borders faster and more effective than ever before. Similarly, the Air Force is also rapidly completing the integration of this missile with its Su-30MKI fighter planes. This combination provides India with highly accurate strikes in both air-to-sea and air-to-land directions. This dual capability has made India’s counter-power stronger.
