Marriage in India is not just a relationship but a grand event which brings life to many industries. This year, more than 46 lakh marriages are expected to take place between November 1 and December 14, which has, in a way, become a mini economic festival.

From market to tourism and employment, its tremendous impact is visible in every sector. Now the question is, where are most marriages going to take place? So this time, maximum number of marriages are expected in states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.

Uttar Pradesh alone is going to handle a major share of about 18-20 lakh marriages. Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan are also on top in this list. Wedding venues in big cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, Patna, Bhopal and Jaipur have been booked months in advance.

Due to high-end weddings in Delhi-NCR too, huge bookings have been made and the average rates of 5-star hotels have doubled in the season.

The sector which is most bustling due to the wedding season is the hospitality and destination wedding industry. Booking has reached 100% in cities like Jaipur, Udaipur, Rishikesh, Goa and Kerala.

Some hotels are offering packages ranging from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 2 crore for a one-day wedding. Venues, catering, decoration and photography businesses related to weddings are also busy with record bookings.

It is estimated that Rs 6.5 lakh crore will be earned from the wedding market in these 44 days of November-December. The largest segments included in this are jewellery, clothing, hotels and catering, travel, makeup and salons, decoration and event management.

An average Indian wedding costs around Rs 5 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, while the prices of high-end weddings reach crores. Although the prices of gold have increased rapidly and have reached record levels, the craze of buying gold in Indian weddings has not diminished.
