According to sources, the board has prepared the preliminary list of examination centers and now preparations are going on to upload it. Within the next 36 hours this list will be available for viewing on the official website of UP Board.
This time there were already many discussions regarding the number of examination centres, because the number of candidates in the 2026 examination has decreased. While last year i.e. in 2025, 8140 examination centers were made, this time according to sources, around 8000 examination centers have been proposed. There were already speculations about reduction in the number of centers due to the number of candidates decreasing by about 2 lakh.
However, the board has clarified that this figure is not final yet. This is only a preliminary list and it may change after objections are received. The number of centers may increase or decrease after objections are received. Therefore, students and schools have been advised to check the list carefully after its release on the website, and if there is any discrepancy, then register their objection in time.
The final list of examination centers will be released on December 30. After this, no changes will be made and the centers will be locked.
When will the exam be held?
As far as the examination schedule is concerned, UP Board will conduct the high school and intermediate examinations of 2026 between February 18 and March 12. This time a total of 52 lakh 30 thousand 297 candidates have registered for the examination. Of these, 27 lakh 50 thousand 945 students are in high school, while 24 lakh 79 thousand 352 students are in intermediate.
Was the process going on for a long time?
The process of determining examination centers was going on for a long time in schools across the state. While selecting the centres, factors like security, convenience, distance and past records have been kept in mind. This time the board is making more strict preparations than before to prevent cheating and ensure smooth examinations.
Now the eyes of students and teachers are fixed on this preliminary list to be uploaded on the website. As soon as the list is released, demands for amendments regarding centers may also arise in many districts. But the final decision will be visible only in the final list to be released on December 30.
