Veteran actor Dharmendra passed away on 24 November. Since then there has been mourning in the film industry. Recently, at the 56th International Film Festival of India, Aamir Khan paid tribute to Dharmendra and recalled the memorable moments spent with him. During the conversation, he also told which movie Dharmendra had watched before his demise.
Which movie did Dharmendra watch before his death?
Let us tell you that Aamir Khan has revealed that Dharmendra had watched Sunny Deol starrer upcoming film ‘Lahore 1947’ before his death. Actually speaking at the 56th IFFI, Aamir Khan said that he was lucky that he got the chance to spend some time with Dharmendra before his demise. Aamir said, “Actually, ‘Lahore 1947’, the film we made with Sunny, I had the privilege of showing to him. So he has seen the film.” He further said, “Of course, it has not been released yet. But I am very happy that he got a chance to see this film because it was one of his favorite scripts.”
Why Aamir Khan did not attend Dharmendra’s prayer meeting
In the same conversation, Aamir also talked about missing Dharmendra’s prayer meeting held on 27th November. He said, “Today, actually, I am not in Bombay, but unfortunately today is his prayer meeting. I am missing it, and I was very close to him because in the last, I would say in the last one year, I have met him about 7-8 times. Because I loved his company, I used to go and sit near him.”
He also remembered the time when he took his son Azad to meet Dharmendra. Aamir said, “One day I took Azad with me, bet, I said I want to introduce you to someone because Azad hasn’t seen his work. But Azad came with me and we spent a few hours with him, and it was really amazing. You know, Dharamji was not only a great actor, but also a great human being.”
About Lahore 1947
Based on Asghar Wajahat’s famous play “Jis Lahore Nayi Dekhya, O Jamyaai Ni”, this film is the story of the time of partition. The story revolves around a Muslim family who moves from Lucknow to Lahore and is given a mansion vacated by a Hindu family. However, things take a dramatic turn when they discover that the Hindu family is still living in the house and refuses to leave. Along with Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, Lahore 1947 also stars Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol in lead roles.
