The ongoing controversy regarding the third part of Bollywood’s most cult comedy franchise ‘Hera Pheri’ has once again come into discussion. Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, who played the role of ‘Baburao Apte’ in the film, has recently revealed during an interview that he had become “sandwiched” between superstar Akshay Kumar and producer Firoz Nadiadwala regarding the rights of the film. In an interview given to Vicky Lalwani, Paresh Rawal told that there was never any sourness in his relationship with Akshay Kumar, rather the whole matter was of contractual obligation. He said, ‘There is nothing that is not comfortable with Akshay Kumar. This is a matter of some contractual obligation. Firoz Nadiadwala is the sole owner of franchises like ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Awara Pagal Deewana’ and ‘Welcome’. Therefore, if I want to work, I will have to take Firoz’s approval. Until his approval comes, I cannot work.
Akshay Kumar sent me a notice of Rs 25 crore…
On the question of escalation of the controversy and receipt of legal notice, Paresh Rawal replied very intelligently. He told that Akshay Kumar had sent him a legal notice of Rs 25 crore, but he considered it more emotional than legal. Accept the reaction. Paresh also told that Akshay never came forward and apologized to him for this, but things got resolved between the two without saying anything and they later even shot together.

Paresh Rawal said, ‘There was no legal basis for that notice. I think Akshay must have been emotional and upset and sent that notice saying, ‘Man, how can Paresh say no to me?’ I never went into depth to see what was going on between Firoz and Akshay. Akshay was saying that he has the rights and Firoz said that he has approved. I became a sandwich in the fight between Akshay Kumar and Firoz. Why should I get into this controversy? There can be no reason for me and Akshay to have a fight.
Expressed grief over the danger looming on ‘Hera Pheri 3’
When Paresh Rawal was asked whether the matter between Akshay and Firoz has now been resolved, he said, ‘I thought the matter has been resolved, but just yesterday I heard that Akshay has sent a notice to Firoz that the rights are with him, so don’t get into it and let it go on as it is. Now Firoz might be trying to make this film from scratch.

He further said, ‘This is very sad. Seriously man, this is such a big film and a big franchise. ‘Hera Pheri’ is not just a film, it is an emotion. Whenever this film is made and whoever makes it, I will definitely work in this franchise.
Why is there controversy regarding ‘Hera Pheri 3’?
Let us tell you that earlier this year, the matter regarding the rights of the film ‘Hera Pheri 3’ had reached the court. A South production company claimed that the rights of ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise are not with Firoz Nadiadwala. The company alleges that they were given the rights only to remake the Malayalam film ‘Ramji Rao Speaking’, but later its sequels were made without permission and the rights were transferred to a third party.
Priyadarshan made allegations against Firoz Nadiadwala
Meanwhile, the film got embroiled in another controversy when actor Paresh Rawal suddenly left the project. After this, Akshay Kumar’s production house had claimed Rs 25 crore against him. ‘Hera Pheri 3’ director Priyadarshan has also distanced himself from this film. Not only this, he also made serious allegations against producer Firoz Nadiadwala. Priyadarshan says that Firoz insulted him many times and even asked Akshay Kumar not to make ‘Hera Pheri 3’ with him.
