Veteran England cricketer Kevin Pietersen had asked Babar Azam the question of defeating the Indian team on his YouTube channel. Babar said, “Defeating India means a lot to me. When we defeated India in T20, it was one of the best memories of my career. As Pakistan captain, I defeated India in the World Cup match.”
In the same interview, Kevin Pietersen described India vs Pakistan as the biggest rivalry in cricket. On this Babar Azam said, “The level of India-Pakistan match is different.” Let us remind you that after that victory in 2021, Pakistan has never been able to defeat the Indian team in any ICC event.
The popularity of Babar Azam, who defeated India as captain in a World Cup match, started touching the sky and his stature in the Pakistan team also increased. Babar Azam has now become the highest run scorer in T20 International cricket by surpassing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
On the other hand, the captaincy has now been snatched from Babar Azam. After the poor performance of the Pakistan team under the captaincy of Babar in the 2023 ODI World Cup and 2024 T20 World Cup, he was removed from the captaincy.
