Another BLO died in Rajasthan, fell on the ground while working as SIR, family said – was under pressure


Another BLO has died amid SIR in Rajasthan. A 42-year-old Booth Level Officer (BLO), engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) work of the voter list, died suddenly after collapsing at his home.

Police said that Anuj Garg fainted while uploading voter data late on Saturday night (November 29). His family alleged that he was working under extreme pressure. Anuj was posted as BLO in Gaushala sector of Dholpur city.

Police said that he fell on the ground a few minutes after asking for tea at his house in Pratap Vihar Colony. Anuj’s sister Vandana Garg told that due to workload, Anuj used to work till late every night. He said, ‘That night also he was uploading voter forms. He asked for tea, but he fainted before he could drink it.

Teacher was in Baran

Vandana told that the family took Anuj to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead. On Sunday morning, Nihalganj police and District Medical Officer Dr. Samarveer Singh went to Anuj’s house to record his statement. Postmortem was done later. Anuj was a teacher in Government Higher Secondary School, Baran and had joined the service in 2012.

‘Was working from 5 in the morning to 1 in the morning’

Anupam Garg, brother of the deceased, said, “He was a government teacher and also held the post of BLO. He used to work from 5 am to 1 am. Due to this, he suffered mental stress and died. At around 1 am in the night, he had chest pain and died.”
