Actually, this unique love story started in Gonda district. The groom, Sajid Ali, belongs to the Muslim community. The bride is from a Dalit family. Sajid and the girl met during a marriage ceremony organized in Gonda. This meeting soon turned into deep love. When love blossomed, both of them persuaded their families for marriage, both families agreed.
People were surprised to see the wedding procession decorated with Muslim customs.
After the consent of the family, complete preparations for the marriage were made at the house of a Dalit family in Yarta village. Everything was going according to plan. In the afternoon, when Sajid Ali reached Yarta village with his procession, some people of the village were surprised to see this procession decorated with Muslim customs. The arrival of a Muslim youth in a marriage procession to a Dalit family was such a thing that quickly became the subject of rumors and discussions in the village.
Hindu organizations told the matter of love jihad
On getting information about this, local officials and workers of Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh immediately reached the spot. His allegation was that this was not a normal marriage, but a case of ‘love jihad’. He claimed that a Muslim youth marrying a Dalit Hindu girl is part of a conspiracy to convert. The workers started protesting vigorously on the spot, due to which the atmosphere in the village became extremely tense.
Police reached the spot on information of commotion
As soon as information about the uproar was received, a large police team under the leadership of the police station head reached Yarta village without any delay. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the police immediately intervened and first detained the groom Sajid Ali and some of his wedding guests to prevent a confrontation between the two parties.
On this matter, SP Abhinandan said that a complaint was received about intercaste marriage, some Hindu organizations also opposed this marriage, investigation has revealed that the boy is an adult while the girl is a minor, due to which this marriage is not legally valid. The police is investigating the entire incident closely.
He said that the primary objective of the police at this time is to maintain peace and order in the village. There is a lot of tension due to the protest, so the police have brought the situation under control by pacifying both the parties and additional forces have been deployed in the village. The boy Sajid has been arrested and sent to jail on charges of religious conversion and forced marriage.
