A big issue has come to light regarding the data of students appearing in CUET 2026 and various board examinations. The report claims that some websites are selling personal information of students. After this news, concern about data security has increased among students and parents. However, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared its system completely safe.
Websites claiming to sell data in discussion
According to the report, some websites on the internet are claiming that they have the database of students appearing in CUET 2026 and other board exams. It is said about these websites that they provide data of students to private universities, colleges and admission related institutes. It is being told that the price of the database has been kept around Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on its size and information.
What information does the student claim to have?
It is reported that the alleged database contains many personal information of students like name, mobile number, email ID, application number, date of birth, parents’ names, gender and category. The report also claims that some websites have shown a limited number of records as samples to reassure potential buyers. However, these claims have not been confirmed.

If a student’s personal information is accessed or sold to anyone without permission, the risk of it being misused increases. Such data can be used for fake admission calls, spam messages, cyber fraud or identity fraud. This is the reason why matters related to data security are considered very serious.
What did NTA say
On the whole matter, the National Testing Agency has said that the security of the information of the candidates is its top priority. According to the agency, data related to examination and results is shared only through secure government platforms and consent based process. NTA says that its official systems are secure and necessary measures are adopted to protect the information of the candidates.
