On the first day of the winter session of Parliament 2025, there was a clash between Mallikarjun Kharge and JP Nadda in the Rajya Sabha on the issue of sudden resignation of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Leader of the House JP Nadda even advised Kharge to visit a doctor. The leader of the opposition, in the welcome speech of Chairman CP Radhakrishnan, raised the issue of the sudden resignation of his Jagdeep Dhankhar from the post of Vice President.
Kharge mentioned Dhankhar’s resignation in Parliament
Amid protests from BJP MPs, Kharge said, “I hope you will not mind that I am forced to mention his sudden resignation from the post of Speaker of the House. Being the patron of the entire House, the Speaker is equally important for the government as well as the opposition. I am sad that the House did not get the opportunity to bid him farewell. On behalf of the entire opposition, I wish him a healthy life.”
JP Nadda said – go to the doctor
Leader of the House JP Nadda did not like his statement and called it off topic. He said, ‘We should maintain the dignity of the welcome ceremony. If this happens, then there will be discussion from our side also that no-confidence motion should be brought against him (Dhankhar) twice. I think our opposition leaders are very respectable. You have suffered a lot due to defeat in Bihar, Haryana and Maharashtra. The problem should be discussed with the doctor. When the time comes, express your problems to the doctor.

When did Dhankhar resign?
This year, on the first day of the monsoon session, Jagdeep Dhankhar had resigned from the post of Vice President, which created a stir in political circles. He had submitted his resignation to President Draupadi Murmu citing health issues and the need to follow medical advice, citing Article 67 (A) of the Constitution.
