US President Donald Trump has given a big statement regarding the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Speaking to the media before the cabinet meeting in Washington, he said that this conflict is a very difficult situation and it will not be easy to resolve it. Trump claimed that he has solved the first eight wars and this could be the ninth, to end which his team is currently negotiating in Russia.
Trump said, “We are trying to end this war. Our people are in Russia right now to see if we can solve this. But it is not easy. The situation is very messy.” This comment of Trump has come at a time when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is on a visit to Ireland. During an event in Dublin, Zelensky also expressed mild optimism about peace talks. He said that the recent intensified talks and America’s interest have given positive signs.
What did Zelensky say about America?
Zelensky said, “There is some hope because the talks have gained some momentum and the interest of the American side is also visible. It is clear from this that America is not backing down from any kind of diplomatic talks, which is a good sign for us.”
Russia warned European countries
Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a stern warning to European countries, saying that if Europe tries to wage war against Russia, it will face such a swift and decisive defeat that Russia will be left with no party to negotiate with. This statement of Putin has come at a time when military support to Ukraine from Europe and NATO countries is continuously increasing.
How much part of Ukraine is occupied by Russia?
As of today, Russia controls about 19% of Ukraine’s territory, which is about 1% more than in 2023. Although in 2025 Russia has made faster progress than before, it has still failed to capture all of Ukraine.
