Indian Railways has given a big opportunity to the youth this time. The biggest news of the year has come for lakhs of candidates across the country who were waiting for railway jobs. Railways has started the recruitment process for a total of 1 lakh 20 thousand 579 posts for 2024 and 2025. This is the same recruitment about which Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave information in the Parliament during the winter session, and said that such a big campaign had never been conducted before.
Railways has always been the first choice of the youth, and this time the Railways has further increased the expectations of the candidates by releasing such a large number of posts at once. The Railway Minister said that the process of all recruitments for both the years has been expedited and notifications have also been issued.
According to the Railway Ministry, in the year 2024, Railways had issued 10 major notifications, in which recruitment work is going on for 91 thousand 116 posts. At the same time, 7 notifications have been issued for the year 2025, through which appointments will be made on 38 thousand 463 posts. Taking both the years together, the number of recruitment reaches 1,20,579 posts, that is, more than 1.2 lakh jobs are currently available.
Recruitment going on for these posts
Now let us talk about those posts for which recruitment is going on. This time, jobs have emerged in almost every sector in Railways. These include the posts of Assistant Loco Pilot i.e. ALP, Technician, Sub-Inspector and Constable in RPF, Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent, Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant, Paramedical Staff, various categories of NTPC, Ministerial and Isolated Categories and Level-1 posts like Track Maintainer and Assistant.
These have both technical and non-technical jobs and this is being considered a golden opportunity for lakhs of candidates. The special thing is that this time Railways has also made it clear that the recruitment calendar has been released, so that the process can be more transparent and time bound. This will also make it easier for the candidates to prepare.
Only this much recruitment from 2004 to 2014
The Railway Minister told another important thing in the Parliament. He said that between 2004 and 2014, Railways had given jobs to about 4 lakh people, while between 2014 and 2025 this number increased to 5 lakh 8 thousand. That means, in the last ten years, Railways has recruited more than ever before. The minister said that the aim of the government is to fill all the vacant posts of Railways soon, so that the work remains smooth and the youth get employment.
