Ayush Mhatre, who plays for Mumbai, has created havoc in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. After scoring centuries in consecutive T20 matches, he has now scored a half-century in the match against Chhattisgarh. Mhatre made an important contribution in helping Mumbai win by 8 wickets by playing an inning of 69 runs in 49 balls. He has already scored centuries against Vidarbha and Andhra in the same T20 tournament.
Ayush Mhatre is also the highest run scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has scored 325 runs in 6 matches at an excellent average of 108.33.
In the match played on Saturday, Chhattisgarh team was limited to only 121 runs while playing first. In reply, Ayush Mhatre and Ajinkya Rahane started the innings for Mumbai and added 82 runs for the first wicket. Rahane scored 40 runs. Mhatre stood firm at one end and ensured his team’s victory by playing an innings of 69 runs.
Mumbai team is at the first position in the table in the Elite A group after registering five wins in 6 matches. Let us tell you that according to some media reports, Rohit Sharma can also be seen playing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches for Mumbai in the knockout matches.

Ayush Mhatre was a part of the Chennai Super Kings squad in IPL 2025. CSK included him in their team in the middle of the season as a replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad. Now before the mini auction of IPL 2026, Chennai team has retained Mhatre. 18 year old Ayush Mhatre scored 240 runs in 7 IPL matches. Seeing his amazing performance, CSK will have high expectations from him in IPL 2026 also.
