Former batting coach of the Indian cricket team, Sanjay Bangar has given a big statement about star batsman and former captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Sanjay Bangar believes that considering the performance of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the last few years, they should be treated differently and there should never be any debate about their place in the ODI team.

National selection committee member and head coach Gautam Gambhir may be skeptical about the senior pair maintaining their form and fitness till the 2027 World Cup, but both the batsmen have shown that they have no match by scoring three centuries (Kohli’s 2) and five half-centuries (Rohit’s 3) in the last 6 ODI matches.

‘I don’t think questions should be raised about the place of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’

Former batting coach Sanjay Bangar told Geostar, “I don’t think questions should be raised about the place of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the team. Their contribution to the team over the years should be considered. They have retired from two formats, so obviously it may take some time for them to get the rhythm, but they have done it many times. They do not need to play as many matches as any young player.”

Bangar further said, “Once they find their rhythm and are fully fit and hungry to score runs, then you want these kind of players in the team. You have to treat them differently and allow them to play their natural game. When they are in rhythm, you can see the difference. His mere presence changes the atmosphere in the dressing room. He must have spoken to the young players after the Test series defeat. He has made the players leave the old things behind. It would have inspired them to leave and play freely, which would have boosted the confidence of the entire team.”
