After the Corona epidemic, Indian Railways has expanded its train services. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told in the Lok Sabha that compared to 11,283 daily trains every day before the Corona epidemic, this number has now increased to 11,740 in November 2025. The number of mail/express trains has also increased and its number has increased from 1,768 to 2,238 being operated daily. Apart from this, the Railway Minister has also given an update on the much awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. The Railway Minister has said that Vande Bharat sleeper train is ready and its two rakes are on trial.

The Railway Minister said that with the aim of making long and medium distance overnight journeys comfortable, indigenous design of Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has been prepared. Its two rakes have been ready and are currently in the trial and commissioning stage. Let us tell you that Vande Bharat, the flagship train of Modi government, currently 164 Vande Bharat chair car services are already operating on the Indian Railways network.

Vande Bharat sleeper train will be equipped with safety features

The Railway Minister said that Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will be equipped with many key technical and safety features, such as KAVACH protection system, while its speed will be 180 km/hr design speed and 160 km/hr operating speed. Apart from this, this train is equipped with crash uniform carbody and complying with EN standards. EN-45545 HL3 fire safety standard is in view of fire safety. Fire barrier doors have been installed at the end of each coach. Developed fire detection and suppression system and regenerative braking system have been installed in the cabinet and lavatory.

There will be many types of facilities in the train

The much-awaited train like Vande Bharat will have modern air conditioning, centrally controlled automatic plug doors and sealed wider gangways with UV-C lamp based disinfection system. All coaches have been provided with CCTV, emergency talk-back unit for passengers in case of emergency, centralized coach monitoring system to monitor passenger amenities and ergonomically designed stairs to climb to the upper berth and special toilets for disabled passengers.
