Big shock before T20 World Cup, Jio Hotstar’s $3 Billion deal ends. Money Live | Major setback before the T20 World Cup: Jio Hotstar’s $3 billion deal falls through

Big shock just before the T-20 Cricket World Cup 2026—Jio Hotstar has given up Indian Cricket Broadcasting Rights of ICC.

The company said it would not be able to continue with the remaining contract through 2027, which was worth more than $3 billion. The ICC will soon seek applications for new rights for the 2026–2029 cycle, which is estimated to be worth $2.4 billion.

There were talks with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Sony Pictures, but at the moment no one showed much interest. The main reason for Jio Hotstar’s retreat is said to be the Fantasy Gaming Ban in India and the loss of ₹7,000 crore in advertising revenue due to this.
