South Africa won the second T20 match played against India at the Maharaj Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur by 51 runs. Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav believes that he and Shubman Gill should have batted by staying at the crease. Along with this, he has accepted that the team will have to learn from South Africa.
After losing the match, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said, “South Africa knew from the first inning itself what length to bowl. There was some dew here. If the first plan did not work, we should have adopted the second plan. We have to learn from South Africa.”
Suryakumar Yadav could score only 5 runs in this match, while Shubman Gill gave the wicket of Lungi Ngidi on his very first ball. In this innings, Abhishek Sharma scored 17 runs in 8 balls with 2 sixes.
The Indian captain said, “I think me and Shubman Gill together could have given a good start because we cannot rely on Abhishek Sharma all the time. The way he is batting, he can have a bad day. Me, Shubman and some other batsmen should have handled the Indian innings. I think it would have been a smart chase. I should have taken that responsibility. Should have batted a little more deeply. In this match, the South African team batted first and scored 213 runs losing 4 wickets. In this innings, Quinton de Kock added 90 runs in 46 balls with 7 sixes and 5 fours, while Donovan Ferreira played an unbeaten inning of 30 runs.
In response, the Indian team was reduced to just 162 runs in 19.1 overs. For India, Tilak Verma scored 62 runs in 34 balls, but could not lead the team to victory.
