While sharing some scenes of the film, Karan Johar wrote – ‘Even after so many years, it continues to make everyone feel the power of family, love, a lot of happiness and a little sadness’. This film introduced Shahrukh Khan and Kajol as an iconic pair, in which Kajol’s bubbly style won the hearts of the fans the most.

Earlier, Sooraj Barjatya was known for family and romance films. Karan Johar also signed the star cast of the film in a single day. The producer signed 6 big stars of the film in one day.

Karan Johar had revealed in an interview that he wanted to include all the big stars in the film. He said that one day he first reached Shahrukh Khan’s house with the script, where he said ‘yes’ to the film without even reading the script. After which Kajol said ‘yes’, then he reached Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya’s house and narrated the story and then both of them said ‘yes’ for the film.
Finally I reached Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor’s house. The title track of the film was also shot with great difficulty because singer Lata Mangeshkar had stopped singing at that time, but on the insistence of music composer Lalit Pandit, she recorded the first title track of the film.
