Neha Dhupia married Angad Bedi very secretly in the year 2018, which surprised everyone because they had never made their relationship official. This couple got married in a very private manner in the Gurudwara. Just a few months after their marriage, their first child, daughter Mehar, was born.
Recently, during Manish Paul’s podcast, Angad Bedi talked about his love story. He also told how with time their friendship turned into a relationship and then reached marriage. During the conversation, Manish jokingly asked Angad, ‘You slept single and woke up married. The news came suddenly in one night… which was really amazing. So when did you two meet?’
First seen in cycling shorts
Angad said in response to this question, ‘There was a gym in Malcha Marg, Delhi where my friends took me. I had never seen a gym like this before. At the same time, I saw a fit girl running on the treadmill. Talking about the first time he saw Neha, Angad said, ‘She was running a lot wearing cycling shorts.
When I saw her, my friends told me, ‘She is Miss India, her name is Neha Dhupia.’ I said that she looks very fit and her running style is very good. Then the next day we went to the gym again to see her and after that on the third day also. My father thought why am I going to the gym after training, I should rest. After this, for some reason we stopped going to the gym.
Many years later, Angad’s best friend and cricketer Yuvraj Singh played the role of Cupid for the couple. Angad said, ‘After a few years, Yuvraj Singh, who is like a father to me and also my best friend, took me to a party in Mumbai. Neha was also present there. I saw and greeted them. After the party we all went to my house. We also invited Neha during this time. During this time, I talked to him properly for the first time. I told him that earlier we both used to go to the same gym.
The actor further said that luckily he got a chance to work in Dharma’s film Ungli. Neha was also a part of it. After this we did another project, he called me for a role and I said yes because I just wanted to spend time with him. I was a person who spoke openly about his feelings.
Parents left the decision to Neha
That film was a complete flop, it had no special substance and was useless. During the shooting, I told her that I liked her and she should marry me. After coming to Delhi, Angad Bedi asked Neha Dhupia’s parents for their daughter’s hand. But he left the decision to Neha.
Angad told, ‘I told her, I am nobody, I have no money, but if you marry me, I will become someone.’ She did not say anything and turned the conversation in another direction. After that film, I came home and told her parents that I want to marry their daughter. He said, ‘You are a very good boy, but you don’t have even a single rupee in your pocket and you want to marry our daughter. I told him that was my intention and he said we will see.
Fate brought this couple together again. Karan Johar advised both of them to be together. Angad said, ‘We had become good friends and wanted to spend time with each other. Later she went her way and I went my way. My luck was such that I used to go to Punjab for the shooting of Soorma. He invited me to a Diwali party. She was trying to introduce me to someone else. I said don’t waste my time, my diary is already full.
