Cameron Green has been bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 25.20 crore. A fierce bidding war was seen between Chennai Super Kings and KKR for Green. Chennai Super Kings pulled out at Rs 25 crores. Green has now become the most expensive player in IPL auction history. He broke the record of Mitchell Starc, who was bought by KKR for Rs 24.75 crore in the 2024 auction.
Mumbai Indians had started the bidding on Cameron Green, but only Rs 2.75 crore were left in their purse, so they did not bid much. After that a fierce bidding war was seen between KKR and Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan had Rs 16.05 crore left in its purse, yet it bid up to Rs 13 crore 40 lakh on Green.
Bidding war in Chennai-Kolkata
After this Chennai Super Kings entered in the middle. A fierce bidding war was seen between Chennai and Kolkata franchises. Both the teams needed an all-rounder, so both did not hold back in spending money.
This was the highest bid made by Chennai Super Kings on any player in the IPL auction. Earlier, he had bought Ben Stokes for Rs 16.25 crore in the 2023 auction, which was the highest bid made by him in the auction till now. Chennai team bid up to Rs 25 crore for Green, but then pulled out.
Most expensive foreign player in auction
Cameron Green has become the most expensive foreign player in IPL auction history. Before him, this record was in the name of Mitchell Starc, who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 24.75 crore in the 2024 auction. Kolkata Knight Riders have also bid on Green.
