The rules for constable recruitment in Border Security Force (BSF) have been changed by the Home Ministry. Under this, every year 50 percent posts will be reserved for former firefighters in the direct recruitment for constable posts in BSF. Apart from this, 10 percent posts have been kept for ex-servicemen, due to which ex-fire warriors will get better opportunities to get jobs in BSF. How much reservation is there for Agniveer in government jobs?

  • The Government of India has provided recruitment opportunities for Agniveer in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Under this, up to 50 percent seats have been reserved for Agniveer in the recruitment process of constables in Border Security Force (BSF). With this, if Agniveer wishes, he can get recruited in the Indian Army on the basis of the quota given by the government after completing his four-year tenure. Apart from this, reservation of up to 10 percent has also been given in the recruitment of other forces under the Central Armed Police Forces like Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
  • The Uttar Pradesh government has also started many employment opportunities and schemes for former firefighters, because Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of youth recruited in the army. According to the data of 2022, approximately 1.67 lakh youth were recruited in the army. Keeping this in view, reservation of up to 20 percent has been provided for recruitment in security departments like Uttar Pradesh Police Constable, Fireman and PAC.
  • The Haryana state government has also given reservation of up to 20 percent for former firefighters in the recruitment of the state police department. Along with this, up to 10 percent reservation has been given in Group C posts of other departments like Forest Guard, Jail Warden, Mining Guard or any government job.
  • Uttarakhand is also counted among such states, where the maximum number of youth are recruited in the army. The Uttarakhand government has given reservation of up to 10 percent to former firefighters for recruitment to Group ‘C’ posts in its police department.
  • The states of Madhya Pradesh, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have also announced at their level that the youth who have completed service as Agniveer will be given priority in direct recruitment of the state police and other government departments. Along with this, age relaxation will also be given to the former firefighters who apply.
