After the decision given by the Supreme Court regarding Electoral Bonds, a big change has been seen in the pattern of political funding. According to media reports, there was a sharp jump in donations through Electoral Trusts in 2024–25.
During this period, 9 electoral trusts donated a total of ₹ 3,811 crore to political parties, which is more than three times compared to last year.
In this, BJP got the largest share—about ₹3,112 crore, while Congress got about ₹299 crore. Increasing corporate donations through Electoral Trusts have raised new questions about transparency and corporate influence in electoral funding.
