Indian women’s team won the second T20 match played against Sri Lanka at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium by 7 wickets. With this, Team India has taken a 2-0 lead in the 5-match series.
After losing the toss and opting to bat, the Sri Lankan team could score only 128 runs after losing 9 wickets in the stipulated overs.
This team had lost the wicket of Vishmi Gunaratne (1) on the score of just 2. From here Hasini Perera along with captain Chamri Athapaththu tried to take control of the team by scoring 36 runs for the second wicket. The captain contributed 31 runs to Sri Lanka’s account.
Hasini Perera (22) added 44 runs for the third wicket with Harshita Samarawickrama, taking Sri Lanka’s score to 82 runs. Harshita Samarawickrama (33) along with Kavisha Dilhari (14) added 22 runs for the fourth wicket. As soon as this pair broke, there was a fall of wickets.
For India, Vaishnavi Sharma and Shri Charani took 2-2 wickets, while Kranti Gaur and Sneh Rana took 1-1 wicket.
In response, India won in just 11.5 overs. Shefali Verma made a partnership of 29 runs in 3.1 overs for the first wicket with Smriti Mandhana. Mandhana was out after scoring 14 runs in 11 balls.
From here, Shefali Verma along with Jemimah Rodrigues added 58 runs in 27 balls for the second wicket and brought the team closer to an easy victory. Jemima returned to the pavilion after scoring 26 runs in 15 balls with 1 six and 4 fours.
From here, Shefali Verma made a partnership of 41 runs with captain Harmanpreet Kaur and took India to the threshold of victory. India needed only 1 run to win, meanwhile Harmanpreet (10) was bowled. In such a situation, Richa Ghosh took the last run of the match. Shefali remained unbeaten after scoring 69 runs in 34 balls. His innings included 12 boundaries.
For Sri Lanka, Malki Madara, Kavya Kavindi and Kavisha Dilhari took 1 wicket each.
India had won the first match of the series against Sri Lanka by 8 wickets. After this, Team India has also won the second match. Now the third match is to be played between the two countries on 26th December in Thiruvananthapuram, by winning which India would like to capture the series.
