At the closing ceremony of the Sansad Sports Mahotsav on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a special appeal to all the parents. PM Modi said that the irregularities in the sports department and team selection before 2014 have now ended. Now children from poor families are also reaching the top level on the basis of hard work and talent.
On the occasion of ‘Sansad Khel Mahotsav’ organized to promote sports culture and leadership abilities among the youth, PM Modi said that the participation of people from every background in the festival, from cities to villages, shows how big its scope and impact is.
The Prime Minister said, “This Mahotsav is becoming a strong pillar of the mantra of nation building through youth development. The country is getting thousands of talented players from the Sansad Sports Mahotsav. Apart from winning and losing, the sportsmanship that is learned from sports is what creates capable and disciplined youth. Only such youth create the future of the nation. This Mahotsav is also playing an important role in changing the mindset of the society.”
Life is not ruined by playing – PM Modi
Prime Minister Modi further said, ,There are so many examples coming from remote areas of the country, which inspire the entire country. Somewhere a disabled player is touching the heights by making the challenges small, somewhere on the field a daughter is busy fulfilling her dreams and the Sansad Sports Mahotsav is giving such players a chance to showcase their talent.,
He said that the change within a decade in the society which scolded the children for playing earlier became possible because now the parents have realized that playing does not ruin the life but rather the children can change the fate of not only their family but also the entire village and society by taking up sports.

Prime Minister Modi said, ,Before 2014, irregularities in the sports department, team selection and infrastructure in the name of sports had stopped. Children from poor families can also reach the top at an early age. Yesterday fifteen to twenty year old youth scored a century on the playground, some in 32 balls, some in 40 balls. This is their strength. We are giving more and more platforms to our youth to play. Talents are being identified through Khelo India’s various sports and Sansad Khel Mahotsav. World class sports facilities are being built even in tier two and three cities of our country.,
India is trying to host 2036 Olympics- Prime Minister Narendra Modi
He said that before 2014, the country’s sports budget was less than Rs 1200 crore, which is now more than Rs 3000 crore. He said that through TOPS (Target Olympic Podium) scheme, players are getting assistance of Rs 25 to 50 thousand every month. He said, all these efforts are also yielding benefits. Our players have performed exceptionally well in the last few years. Attracted the attention of the whole world by winning seven medals in Tokyo Olympics and 29 medals in Paris Paralympics. Has given the best performance so far by winning more than a hundred medals in the Asian Games. Indian players are giving a new identity to the country on the global sports map.
He said that India will organize the Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad in 2030 and the eyes of the whole world will be on India and this will be a good platform for the youth. He said, apart from this, India is also trying to host the biggest sporting event, the Olympics, in 2036 and India will be represented by the youth who are 10 or 12 years old today. We have to find them from now on, hone them and bring them on the national stage and Sansad Sports Mahotsav can play an important role in this.
He further said, “Today I want to tell every player of the country that you are not playing just for your victory, you are playing for your country and for the honor and dignity of the tricolor.”
