Virat Kohli dominated on the very first day of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. While playing for Delhi, he played a century inning of 131 runs in the match against Andhra. Thanks to this inning, he made an important contribution in helping Delhi win by 4 wickets. After this century, Virat Kohli has reached the threshold of breaking a great record of Sachin Tendulkar. If Virat scores 3 more centuries, he will create a world record.
Virat Kohli will make a world record
Virat Kohli played an inning of 131 runs in 101 balls in the match against Andhra on 24 December. This was the 58th century of his List-A career. Actually, Virat is at second place in terms of scoring most centuries in the history of List-A cricket. Only Sachin Tendulkar is ahead of him, who scored a total of 60 centuries in his List-A career. Now if Virat scores three more centuries, he will become the batsman who has scored the most centuries in the history of List-A cricket.
Most centuries in List-A cricket
- Sachin Tendulkar – 60 centuries
- Virat Kohli – 58 centuries
- Graham Gooch – 44 centuries
- Graeme Ashley Hick – 40 centuries
- Kumar Sangakkara – 39 centuries
How can Virat make a record?
According to BCCI orders, all senior players will have to play at least 2 matches in domestic List-A tournaments. Now Virat will play the next match in Vijay Hazare Trophy on 26th December, in which Delhi and Gujarat will come face to face. Even if Virat scores a century in this match, he will still have 59 centuries in his List-A career.
But Virat leaves Tendulkar behind by scoring 2 more centuries in the ODI series against New Zealand to be held in January 2026. Actually, ODI matches also come under List-A cricket, hence in the New Zealand ODI series, Virat can make the world record of scoring most centuries in List-A cricket.
