North India is in the grip of severe cold and dense fog these days. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is no possibility of relief from cold till December 29. There is a possibility of fog in Bihar till 31st December while in Punjab and Haryana till 30th December. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of cold day for eastern Uttar Pradesh and severe cold day for Bihar, Bengal, Sikkim and Uttarakhand.
Delhi weather
Melting has increased due to clear sky after 2 days of sunshine in the capital Delhi. The cold westerly winds coming from the mountains are further increasing the melting. The minimum temperature in Delhi-NCR has fallen to 6.5 degrees Celsius. Today on Friday (26th December) the temperature is likely to fall further. However, due to reduction in AQI, people have heaved a sigh of relief. Still the AQI is 230, which falls in the poor category.
Alert regarding fog in UP
It is freezing cold in Uttar Pradesh these days. The weather becomes colder at night. However, people got some relief due to sunshine in the day at some places on Thursday. Once again the minimum temperature has dropped. Today the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert regarding dense fog in Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Mirzapur, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Jaunpur, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kavir Nagar, Basti, Kushinnagar, Maharajganj and Sitapur.
The weather may remain dry in UP on 27-28 December. During this period, an alert has been issued regarding dense to extremely dense fog at many places in both the parts. Whereas on 29, 30 and 31 December the weather in the state may remain completely clear. However, there will be dense fog during this period. The temperature continues to fluctuate continuously. A decline has been recorded in the minimum temperature again. Thursday was the coldest night in Meerut, the minimum temperature was recorded at 4.6 degrees Celsius.
Bihar weather
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert regarding cold wave and dense fog in Bihar. A warning has been issued that there will be no relief from fog till the end of this year. According to the Meteorological Department, continuous snowfall in the hilly areas and active western disturbance is having a direct impact on Bihar. The icy westerly winds have increased the cold. In the last 24 hours, the average minimum temperature of Bihar has been recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius.
