There was chaos in Yamunanagar, Haryana, when a police employee under the influence of alcohol rammed the vehicles parked on the roadside with a speeding car. This incident took place in the busy Railway Road Main Market area of the city, where shopkeepers and pedestrians were present engaged in shopping on Friday (26 December) evening. Thankfully, there was no loss of life in this accident, but four cars and two Activas were badly damaged.
According to eyewitnesses, a Swift Dezire car suddenly came towards the market at high speed and went out of control and collided with the vehicles parked on the roadside. The collision was so severe that many vehicles slipped from their place and fell away. The shopkeepers standing outside the shops were a few steps away and had a narrow escape.
The car driver turned out to be a policeman
When people reached the spot after the accident, they found a Haryana Police sticker on the car. During investigation, the car driver was identified as police employee SI Balwinder. Local people say that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and due to this he lost control of the car.
The entire incident was captured in CCTV
The entire incident was recorded in the CCTV camera installed nearby. It is clearly visible in the footage how the speeding car hits vehicles one after the other. This CCTV footage has now become an important part of the police investigation and further action will be decided on that basis.
After the accident, a crowd of people gathered at the spot. There was resentment among shopkeepers and local people. He says that when those who protect the law are negligent like this, then how will the common citizen feel safe. Some people also demanded strict action.
The driver was drunk at the time of the accident
As soon as the information was received, the police team reached the spot and inspected the damaged vehicles. Police are investigating whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and what duty he was performing. Medical examination and other aspects are also being investigated. At present no one died in the accident, but vehicle owners have suffered huge losses and shopkeepers are still in shock. This incident raises serious questions regarding police system and road safety.
