Three Naxalites surrendered before the police in a program organized under the chairmanship of DGP Vinay Kumar in Haveli Kharagpur sub-division of Munger district of Bihar. This includes Zonal Commander Narayan Koda, Sub Zonal Commander Bahadur Koda and active member Vinod Koda. The government had announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh each on Narayan Koda and Bahadur Koda.
23 cases are registered against Narayan Koda, 24 against Bahadur Koda and three cases against Vinod Koda in different police stations. Narayan Koda belongs to Paisara located in Azimganj Panchayat of Dharhara block. While Bahadur Koda is from Baghel village of Haveli Kharagpur block, Vinod Koda is a resident of Shitala Kodasi located in Kajra police station area of Lakhisarai district. All three Maoists have surrendered before the police with their weapons.
What did DGP Vinay Kumar say?
On this occasion, Director General of Police Vinay Kumar said, “Every state has made achievements in the field of eradication of Maoism. Naxalites have been eliminated from many areas. Work in this area has been done very fast in Bihar. 23 Their presence in the extremist affected area has reduced to zero. Monitoring is being done in four districts of Legacy and Thrust. 
Development work continues rapidly in Naxal affected areas – DGP
He further said, “Development work is being done at a rapid pace in Maoist affected areas. Roads, expressways, national highways, skill development for youth, schools and colleges etc. are being opened in these areas so that the youth who had moved towards militancy can return to the main stream. Central Committee Congress was held in Bhimbandh-Kharagpur region in the year 2007. Maoist activities had increased here. Now their presence in this area too has become negligible. All the active members have either been arrested or have surrendered.
Apart from DGP, many police officers were present.
The DGP also said, “Now the government aims to develop such Maoist affected areas. Rapid development work will be done in this area. ADG Kundan Krishnan, IG Vinay Kumar, DIG Munger Rakesh Kumar, SP Operation Sanjay Kumar Singh, Munger SP Syed Imran Masood and other officers were present in the program.
People say that with time the Naxalites are abandoning violence and joining the mainstream of the government. The problem which was hindering the development of the government in the area is now gradually ending and now the flow of development will flow. In this area, nature’s gifts like Bhim Dam, Kharagpur Lake, Rishikund, where tourists had stopped coming, have now started coming. People will now come here without fear and enjoy this place.
