The year 2025 is coming to an end, on this occasion we are talking about such players who became the main faces of the Indian Premier League (IPL) but the fans missed them this year. Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik, Amit Mishra etc. are those players who were playing since the first edition of IPL.
Amit Mishra
Amit Mishra announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in September 2025. Leg spinner Mishra has a record of taking 3 hat-tricks in his name, which is very difficult to break. Amit Mishra has taken 174 wickets in 162 matches for 4 teams (DC, DCH, LSG and SRH) in IPL.
Piyush Chawla
Spinner Piyush Chawla was a part of the 2011 World Cup team, he retired in June 2025. When he retired, he was the joint third bowler to take the most wickets in the IPL. Chawla has taken 192 wickets in 192 matches played for 4 teams (CSK, KKR, KXIP and MI) in IPL.
Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan had retired at the end of 2024, but IPL 2025 was the first edition when he did not play. Dhawan is at third place in terms of scoring the most runs in IPL history, he scored 6769 runs in 222 matches played for 5 teams (DC, DCH, MI, PBKS and SRH), ahead of him are Rohit Sharma (7046) and Virat Kohli (8661).
Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik had also retired from all formats of cricket in June 2024 itself, but 2025 was the first year when he did not play in the IPL. He is now the batting coach and mentor of RCB, having played every season from 2008 to 2024. Karthik scored 4842 runs in 257 matches played for 6 teams (DC, GL, KKR, KXIP, MI and RCB) in IPL.
Riddhiman Saha
Brilliant wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha played an important role in making Gujarat Titans champions in 2022. Saha retired in February 2025. He scored 2934 runs in 170 matches played in IPL, he played for 5 teams (CSK, GT, KKR, KXIP, SRH).
Krishnappa Gautam
Krishnappa Gowtham announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in December 2025. He was known for his off-spin and long sixes. He became the most expensive uncapped player in 2021 (Rs 9.25 crore).
