Drivers get big relief from government on New Year, FASTag rules will change from February 1

The Central Government has taken important decisions to make many rules simple and transparent in the country. These decisions will come into effect from the new year. Now the government has done the work of providing big relief to the common drivers on the New Year. NHAI has made a new announcement related to this, saying that now from February 1, 2026, the hassle of KYC will be eliminated while taking Fastag for new vehicles.

Drivers had to go through many problems

Earlier, whenever someone took a new FASTag, many times he had to face problems due to KYC. These included wrong information, documents not being verified or being harassed for repeated notifications.

Government removed the requirement of KYC

But now, getting rid of this problem, the government has removed the requirement of doing separate KYC for the new FASTag. The registration of the vehicle (RC) will be checked in advance. While getting Fastag done, all the information will be verified in one go.

What will change for old FASTag holders?

If FASTag is already installed in your vehicle, then you will not need to get KYC done again. Unless there is any complaint or disturbance, everything will continue as before. Investigation will be done only if FASTag is issued incorrectly or the vehicle information is incorrect.

It is necessary to verify the vehicle information through the vehicle portal.

Now banks will have to do a complete check before activating FASTag, that is, it will be mandatory to match the vehicle information with the VAHAN portal. Now no FASTag will be activated without complete investigation. The government says that this decision will provide relief to the common people and will stop fake or incorrect FASTags. The system will become more clean, transparent and easier.
