As soon as the winter season arrives, people become fond of eating and drinking hot things, be it hot tea or coffee. To reduce cold and to give relaxation to the body, people consume more tea or coffee. In winter season, tea or coffee tastes good to drink only when it is completely hot and steam is coming out of it. As soon as you take a sip of it, you feel peace in your mind. But a new research study has revealed that consuming very hot and high temperature beverages has a very harmful effect on our Esophagus and increases the risk of Esophagus cancer.

What came out in the research of UK Biobank?

According to a research by UK Biobank, if a person consumes beverages or food items with very hot and high temperature, then there is a risk of many types of problems in the body. In this, the biggest impact is on the esophagus of our body, which is also called food pipe. This tube is very sensitive and soft, hence it can easily get damaged by consuming things with high temperature. Often people drink very hot tea, coffee or any other liquid by sipping it comfortably. But this hot drink causes damage and injury to our esophagus. This also has an adverse effect on the tissues of our body, due to which the risk of esophageal cancer increases.

How does esophageal cancer grow?

If a person consumes hot and high temperature drinks or liquids on a daily basis, the chances of getting esophageal cancer increases, because our esophagus is very soft. It is unable to tolerate irritation and injury caused by high temperature objects. When we repeatedly drink very hot things, the inner lining of the esophagus can get burnt. If this condition persists for a long time, it can damage the cells of our body, which increases the risk of esophageal cancer.

Early symptoms of esophageal cancer

In case of esophageal cancer, some symptoms appear in the body, if identified in time and treatment is started, then prevention from this cancer can be possible.

  • heartburn
  • Chest pain
  • persistent weight loss
  • sudden hoarseness of voice
  • cough with blood
  • Feeling of food getting stuck in the throat or chest while swallowing
