Applying oil to hair is considered a habit that has been going on for generations in Indian homes. Be it Champi on Sunday or oil heated before bathing, it is not just a tradition but also a part of hair care. However, even today the question remains in people’s mind whether the right time to apply oil to hair is early morning or night. Let us tell you today when it is more beneficial to massage your head – in the morning or at night.

Why is oiling important for hair growth?

Oil does not make hair long overnight, but it definitely creates the necessary environment for hair growth. Light massage on the scalp improves blood circulation, which supplies nutrition to the hair roots. Along with this, the oil reduces dryness, strengthens the roots and controls the problem of breakage and fall. Oiling is considered basic hair care due to reasons like Indian weather, pollution, hard water, heat styling and stress.

Applying oil in the morning is better for people who are in a hurry.

Applying oil in the morning is usually done for 30 minutes to 2 hours before bathing. This method is considered better for those people who sweat at night, whose scalp is oily or who do not feel comfortable sleeping after applying oil at night. Light massage in the morning activates the scalp and increases blood flow. For this, coconut, almond or light Ayurvedic oil is sufficient. However, during morning oiling, the oil does not get time to remain on the scalp for long. Due to which the nutrition remains limited at depth, and there is also a risk of dust and soil sticking when it comes out.

Applying oil at night is an old but effective method.

Applying oil at night is considered the most traditional and effective method. In this, the oil remains on the scalp for 6 to 8 hours, due to which it gets deeply nourished and at night the body is in self-repair mode, blood circulation improves and stress level remains low. Light champi before sleeping is considered beneficial not only for hair but also for good sleep. This method is especially better for those who are suffering from hair thinning, dry scalp, dandruff or stress related hair fall. Castor oil mixed with coconut oil, Bhringraj or light oil is more beneficial for this.

Is oiling good for hair in the morning or at night?

If hair growth is your main goal then applying oil at night is considered more beneficial. The oil gets more time, repairs the scalp and is not affected by pollution. However, if applying oil at night causes itching, headache or pimples, then there is no need to force it. In such a situation, regular morning volume can also be a good option.
