T20 World Cup 2026: Will all the T20 World Cup matches of Bangladesh be held outside India? ICC can take a big decision

T20 World Cup 2026: A big news has come out regarding the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. According to a report by NDTV, the International Cricket Council (ICC) may consider shifting all the T20 World Cup matches of Bangladesh out of India. This tournament is to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, in which Bangladesh was to play its league matches in India.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had formally requested ICC to hold their team’s matches in Sri Lanka instead of India. As per the pre-determined schedule, Bangladesh was to play three matches in Kolkata and one match in Mumbai. However, after recent developments the situation seems to be changing.

Decision taken after emergency meeting of BCB

An emergency meeting of the BCB Board of Directors was called in Dhaka, in which the developments of the last 24 hours were discussed in detail. After this the board expressed serious concern about the security in the matches played in India. BCB clearly said in its official statement that in the current situation the Bangladesh national team will not go to India and play.

The board also said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the advice of the Bangladesh government. BCB believes that the safety of players and support staff is the biggest priority and that is why ICC has been requested to hold the matches in some other country.

Sri Lanka can become a new venue

Although ICC has not yet taken any official decision on this demand, but the report claims that ICC can fully consider the option of holding Bangladesh’s matches in Sri Lanka. Since Sri Lanka is already the co-host of the T20 World Cup 2026, it is considered logistically easier to shift the match there.

Eyes fixed on ICC’s decision

At present, the eyes of the cricket world are fixed on the next step of ICC. If Bangladesh’s matches are held outside India, it will be a big change in the schedule and organizing arrangements of the tournament. An official statement on this matter is expected from the ICC in the coming days, which will decide the direction of the T20 World Cup 2026.
