Best Batting Average in List A Cricket: Rituraj Gaikwad has written a new history by making a world record. On January 8, in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Gaikwad played an inning of 134 runs against Goa, which is his 20th century in his List-A career. Actually, he has not made the record of centuries, rather he has become the batsman with the best average run scorer in the world of List-A cricket. He has broken the record of Australian legendary batsman Michael Bevan.
Ruturaj Gaikwad is the highest run-scorer for Maharashtra so far in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. So far he has scored 413 runs in 7 innings at an excellent average of 82.60. Gaikwad has so far scored 2 centuries and one half-century in this tournament.

Gaikwad has the best average among batsmen who have played at least 50 innings in List-A cricket. Gaikwad has scored 5,060 runs in 95 innings in his List-A career and his overall average is 58.83, which is the highest in the history of List A cricket so far. He has left behind Australia’s Michael Bevan, who scored runs at an average of 57.86 in List A cricket. In this list, Gaikwad has left behind Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara.

Gaikwad will not play ODI series against New Zealand
Rituraj Gaikwad took the responsibility of number-4 in the ODI series against South Africa in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. He also played a century in that series, despite this he was dropped from the Indian squad for the ODI series against New Zealand.
