Iran-US Tensions: Tension is continuously increasing between America and Iran due to the ongoing anti-government protests across the country. Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official has given a controversial statement regarding US President Donald Trump. Hassan Rahimpour Azghadi, a member of Iran’s Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, has threatened to arrest Trump.
Hassan Rahimpour Azghadi said that Iran should respond to Trump’s statements in the same way as the US recently did against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. He said that just as American forces caught Maduro and his wife, Trump should also face the same fate. Azghadi said, ‘Iran should do to Trump what they did to Maduro. Trump will have to pay the price for his stance on the protests in Iran.
Raised demand for action
Iranian officials said that Trump could be caught during his presidency or even after that. He also said that he himself wants Trump to be arrested. Iranian officials did not stop here. He also talked about taking action inside America. He said that considering Trump’s attitude, any kind of operation can be conducted in any state or city of America. Even major and damaging actions against American officials and people associated with them should be considered justified. This statement has come at a time when protests have intensified in Iran. At the same time, America is also continuously monitoring the situation. After these statements, the tension between Tehran and Washington seems to be increasing further.
‘If people are killed, we will intervene’
Earlier on Friday, during a meeting with officials of oil and gas companies at the White House, President Donald Trump said that America is keeping a close eye on the situation in Iran. He warned the Iranian government that the US would respond if deadly force was used against protesters. Trump said, “Iran is in big trouble. We are watching very closely. If they start killing people like before, we will intervene.”
Trump made it clear that there will be no deployment of ground troops in the American response. He said, “This does not mean sending troops on the ground, but striking where it hurts the most.” Trump described Iran’s demonstrations as unprecedented and said that years of repression have forced people to take to the streets. He expressed hope that protesters would remain safe and warned Iranian leaders not to open fire on people.
