Vishal Bhardwaj’s next film ‘O Romeo’ is in the news these days. Shahid Kapoor and Trupti Dimri will be seen in lead roles in this film. Users on social media started speculating that this film might be based on the lives of underworld characters Hussain Ustara and Sapna Didi.
This is believed to be because the name of Shahid’s character in the film is said to be Ustara and the name of Trupti’s character is said to be Afshan, which is very similar to the real life names. For this reason, many people are linking the story of the film with these popular personalities. The most interesting thing in this conversation is that in the year 2018, Vishal Bhardwaj was going to make a film on a similar theme, in which Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone were going to be seen. In that incomplete project, Irrfan’s character was also named Ustara, while Deepika’s character was called Afshan.
Trupti replaced Deepika
Now almost the same names are being seen in ‘O Romeo’ also, which has intensified the discussion among the people whether this is the same old project, which is now being made with a new name and a new cast. Since Deepika was earlier associated with this story and now Trupti Dimri has been cast in the film, many people are raising the question whether Trupti has replaced Deepika in this film. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this.
Why was Deepika and Irrfan’s film not made?
Actually, in the year 2018, Vishal Bhardwaj had told through a post why his previous film was delayed. He had written that both the lead actors were not well at that time. Irrfan Khan had jaundice and was taking time to recover, while Deepika Padukone was suffering from severe back pain.
Vishal had said in his post that Deepika’s character was quite physically demanding and her back problem that had started during the shooting of Padmaavat had resurfaced. Doctors had advised him not to do any heavy or tiring work for a few months. For this reason the shooting of the film had to be extended. He also told that the look tests of Irrfan and Deepika were amazing and it took a moment to recognize them after seeing the pictures.
At that time some people had claimed that this film was Sapna Didi’s biopic. However, Vishal Bhardwaj had clearly denied these reports. He had said that this film is not based on the life of any real person. Yes, its story is definitely inspired by the story Dame Fatale from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, but while working on the script, the story took a completely different form. That’s why it was not anyone’s biopic. Now that Trupti Dimri is going to be seen in ‘O Romeo’ and the names of the characters are also similar as before, once again the question is being raised whether this is the same incomplete story, which is being presented again in a new form.
Deepika also replaced from ‘Spirit’
Recently, another film ‘Spirit’ which was in discussion also remained in the headlines for the same reason. According to reports, Deepika Padukone walked out of the project due to some conditions, after which Trupti Dimri was cast in the film. Due to this, connection between ‘O Romeo’ and ‘Spirit’ started being made on social media and discussion started that Trupti has replaced Deepika in both the films.
However, there has been no official confirmation on this entire matter yet, so at the moment it is being considered only as speculation. But it is clear that Trupti Dimri is continuously becoming a part of big and important projects, and her presence in the industry now seems to be stronger than ever.
